I am interested in integrating Mind, Body and Soul; informed by Psychodynamic and Attachment Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Polyvagal Theory (The Science of Connection), and aspects of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.   I use and teach Non-Violent Communication in our sessions and believe that the words we use in our self-talk and with others, can lead to more hurt and divisiveness or towards safe connection and healing.

I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) from a Somatic and Attachment Perspective (S.A.F.E.) and I am also a (CCTP) Certified Clinical Trauma Professional: Level II. I am a Safe and Sound Protocol Practitioner (SSP) through" Unyte-iLs" (Integrated Listening Systems) and use this polyvagal informed tool as an adjunct to trauma work in my practice.

In our work together we may draw from (IFS) Internal Family Systems and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) may be offered to reduce reduce symptoms associated with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

I often utilize Psychoeducation in our sessions to shed light on how your nervous and attachment system may react to interpersonal situations and/or the environmental triggers without conscious awareness (also known as feeling/emotional flashbacks or implicit memory) for those who have had various traumas (abuse and neglect) in their lives.  This can be experienced as severe internal self/other criticism, shame, low self-esteem along with behaviors often labeled as an over-reaction, impulsive or going numb. Many people use alcohol and other substances, food in access (often seen in bingeing/purging or restriction (Anorexia), self-injury or suicidality as a way to cope with these feelings and sensations and subsequent interpersonal difficulties. Various levels of Dissociation and Structural Dissociation may be exhibited in these situations.

We can work together to identify underlying triggers while developing more effective internal and interpersonal coping/regulation skills and healing underlying (attachment) traumas. This may help you live a life commensurate with your personal values and a greater sense of well being.
